Thiruppavai Chanting Classes - Vaanamaamalai

Cittram Ciru Kaale

Thiruppavai:

ThiruppAvai is part of the 4000 Divya Prabandham Tamil poems composed in praise of Perumal (Sriman Narayana). It consists of thirty stanzas (pAsurams) sung by Sri Andal Nachiyar (Sri Goda Devi). ThiruppAvai is an outpouring of devotion and offered as a garland at the LOTUS feet of Sriman Narayana where Andal gives a universal call to all people to recite the name and glories of Sriman NarayanA.  ThiruppavAi is considered an easy means to develop devotion (Bhakthi).  Also ThiruppAvai verses such as ‘NArAyananE namakkE parai tharuvAn’ and ‘erraikum EzhEzh piravikkum unakE utrOmE AvOm’ summarizes the SriVaishnava tenets of prapatti (surrender to Sriman NArAyana) path in the best precise manner. ThiruppAvai is recited and celebrated in all Sri Vaishnava households, temples and Divya Desams.

Vanamamalai Temple and Mutt:

Varamangai Sametha Deivanayaga Perumal (VanamAmalai) Temple is one of the 108 Divya Desams. It is one of the eight swayam vyaktha (self manifested)  keshtrams, maintained by the Vanamamalai Mutt. This is the only Sri Vaishnava Temple where Perumal has HIS daily tirumanajam (abulations) with herbal oil.  This oil is collected in a huge well and distributed as prasad to devotees. At this Divya Desam we also have VanamAmalai Mutt, famous in the Northern part of our country as Shri Thothadri Mutt. It has 62 branches all over India and Nepal and is about 650 years old. The Mutt’s first Jeeyar Swami or Pontiff – Shri Ponnadikkal Jeeyar, is the direct disciple of Sri ManavAla MAmunigal, a main proponent of Sri Ramanuja’s darshanam.

The Kainkaryam:

Varamangai Sametha Deivanayaga Perumal (VanamAmalai) Temple is one of the 108 Divya Desams. It is one of the eight swayam vyaktha (self manifested)  keshtrams, maintained by the Vanamamalai Mutt. This is the only Sri Vaishnava Temple where Perumal has HIS daily tirumanajam (abulations) with herbal oil.  This oil is collected in a huge well and distributed as prasad to devotees. VanamAmalai Mutt USA and Global sishyas are undertaking a unique initiative called “Cittram Ciru Kaale” to engage the worldwide community in their devotional journey while also raising awareness about the Vanamamalai temple and Mutt. Funds collected during this initiative will be fully utilized towards the Kainkaryam (service) efforts that are underway at the VanamAmalai temple – to offer a Golden Chariot/Rath (Thanga Ther) to Perumal and thAyaAr (the divine couple) and to support the VidyApeetam (Vedic Patashala) at Srirangam.
